This a very late post - but since it is coming up again in July 2010 - I figure it's OK to post now. I was fortunate to participate in a fund raiser ride last year in the Midwest and along the mighty Mississippi river which was just beautiful!!! As a parent I got a little choked up speaking with other parents and the kids that this event helps support. Anyway hear are a few pics from last years event to prove I was there. I told everyone at work that I would once again "Take one for the Team" and attend the event this July - because that is the type guy I am Work Work Work!

An idea whose time has come.
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise.. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

In an apparent attempt to cut back on motorcycle based purse snatchings and other crimes of daring-do, Chinese authorities in the city of Shenzhen have embarked upon a major offensive against illegal two-wheelers.

Shenzhen’s Daily Sunshine has reported that 14,277 confiscated motorbikes were destroyed by bulldozers recently, following a binge this past April of 9532 wrecked cycles. While reports remain sketchy about what actually constitutes and “illegal” motorcycle, authorities haven’t been shy in their crusade, confiscating over 580,000 bikes since a 2003 ban took effect. Currently no bikes are allowed in most parts of the downtown area, and the city has been stopped allowing new registrations of motorcycles since 1998.

Motorcyclists may find those kinds of sanctions more than harsh, but the program has been effective according to the article, which says that motorcycle-based crimes are down more than 58 percent compared to last year. The police have even busted up three “motorcycle robbery gangs” in that time. There’s got to be the makings of at least one Rush Hour script here, right?

I am not real tech savvy on the PC and with other web "thingies". As soon as I figure them out, it seems that they are on to the next Tech marvel. (at least I can Blog)

I check out Woot.com, midnightbox.com, and zerodaydeals.com to see what they are offering every once and a while. I have even bought a few electronic gadgets over the past year or so.

I was scanning one of the sites the other day and this description FLOORED me. It referred to my beloved Generational segment as a "The baby-boomin’, pre-military-industrial-complex-era senior citizen" Might as well have called us Geezers while they were at it!!!

I am sure that I or folks my age are not their target audience to start with, but I say that we Boycott DC Fashion. Why do I love Bike Rallies?

It finally dawned on me on me, What I like best about Bike Events, while riding in the cold on our most recent trip to 2009 Daytona Spring Rally. The 1st thing that I need to say is that the saddle time is most rewarding - especially if you have had the winter I had up in NE Ohio - as well as being couped up in trains, planes, automobiles for a 24 hour marathon trip back from Asia. Anyway Bike Week is an opportunity to stay in the most basic (DUMP) motel/hotel, eat foods that your wife would rather you didn't, there ain't no making beds, or picking towels or putting shit where it's SUPPOSED to go, you can drink beer, buy chrome you don't need - and just be a GUY for a long weekend. That's what I like!

With that said let me tell you about our plush accommodations. Which by the way was right on the ocean - Now, I have been to Daytona Beach about a half dozen times and this was the first time I actually saw the ocean - who knew there was a beach? Maybe next time I'll swim.

The very nice and very pregnant gal at the front desk said that the room came with a mini fridge, coffee pot and microwave - if they weren't stolen. She also said that we could check the room out before we decided - well that was plenty endorsement for us.

Upon checking into the room we noticed that it did indeed have its microwave stolen along with a lampshade and bedside telephone. What was left was plenty of worn fabrics, crusty carpet, and a room that needed some "freshening". At this point we had committed!

Arrrgh arrrgh arrrgh - so we sucked it up as we walked cautiously across the dirty worn carpet hoping not to pick up any infectious toe fungus. My riding buddy asked me if my wife would ever stay in a place like this and I had to admit that she would probably not, but would choose rather to sleep in the car - since we only had scooters with us - we decided to make it home for a few days.

The amenities packet included with the room was an all-in-one Cube that served as Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion, Shave Cream, toothpaste and basic 1st aid kit - all in a rectangle smaller that a Andes Dinner Mint.

We had a great time as always and as with all Bike Week Venues there was plenty of B,B & B although the cold weather & economy seemed to have taken a toll on attendance and exposure. ENJOY!!

So I am chowing down a pretty tasty omelet here in Taiwan on Saturday afternoon and my traveling associates says - there is something in those eggs that I can't say out loud.

So she spells out the word M-A-G-G-O-T-S for me, as if spelling the word makes it any less gross. Having been a garbage man in the steamy hot spring and summer months of 1975 in the Detroit area, I don't need any further definition of the word!!!!

Well, Come to find out these were Fancy Pants MAGGOTS, not your run of the mill Fly Pupae - but "Royal Jelly Sucking Bee Prodigy", full of exciting nutrients being whisked off to my virgin blood stream for carnivorous consumption. And to tell you the absolutely truth - these little morsels of goodness mixed with eggs and veggies did not taste all that bad.

If one would have moved on my chop stick however, I would have flashed back to the summer of 75 and hurled all over my new Taiwanese friends. (didn't Bush Sr do that back during his term?)

There is another food I can check off the Bucket List.

Thinking that the worst is over and we can settle in to some normal cuisine - I again hear my friend say as the next course is delivered - Oh My God - we are getting all the creepy crawly food stuffs that exist here in this island country of 23 million. Flash fried Bamboo Worms on a bed of Greens.

Once again, if you can get by thinking about it - and just taste it - you don't really mind the flavor.

My metal was again tested in the land of exotic foods and I can say I did my Country proud!!!

Got in Thursday Night and hit the bricks on Friday Morning, stumbled onto the Techno Harley Davidson shop and bought a T-shirt (oh good, just what I need is another black t-shirt) Found a Cuban Cigar Shop so I stopped in to partake of a medium size cigar and walked around some more. This evening heading for Taiwan for a quick overnight and meetings on Saturday. Blog at you later.

Baby Daddy - Baby Daughter

My baby Daughter flew in this past weekend to visit her Pops, and we had a great time! Funny thing is - that all my family live in warm states except for my baby Daughter who traveled from the Windy City of Chicago to CleveLand, no one else wants to come until summer.

Cant hardly blame them. We had a full weekend with a trip to the International Motorcycle Show, Sushi Rock for some great Sushi, and then a pub crawl through the joints that I generally eat my dinner at.

One great story is that I took my Daughter into the restaurant that I frequent the most, where they know my name, and have met my better half. Anyway, as I walk in - the owner, the bartender, and the waitresses (all female) are giving me the evil eye since I am with this young Chickie and not Renie. After some death stares I casually explain the situation and introduce her as my Daughter and everything was fine ...... we had a great time laughing about it after that.

I am not going to bore you with many pics taken at the Motorcycle Show (if you remember it was this show last year that I met the CrossBones, fell and love and eventually kicked the StreetGlide to the curb)(aahhhh bittersweet memories) anyway I did meet this cat who just did some custom work on a CrossBones and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the look. So here are a few snap-shots, we also saw the unveiling of the new Iron 883. Which to me seems nothing more than a blacked out "Price Point" Sportster with a sinister look, not a bad for these times.

"The height of Irresponsibility" was the term Obama used to explain recent Wall Street bonus payouts, Raises, and Corporate Perks. We must have accountability to the American Taxpayer!!! Well - how about starting in your own back yard??

I am growing tired of ALL politicians pointing fingers at business saying YOU ARE BAD, when they turn around and enjoy the perks that the are accusing others of, after all, is government not subject to accountability for spending taxpayer dollars? Yours and Mine??

This is not a Dem or Rep issue - this is a political issue.

BTW I agree with Obama calling for common sense - That is not my issue, my issue is lets spread the responsibility for justice around. Defending the spending below by saying it is an important planning event is not justification - you can plan in Washington DC just as easy as in a resort.

On Thursday, Democrats will head to the Kingsmill Resort and Spa in historic Williamsburg, Va., for the three-day planning powwow. The resort boasts multiple championship golf courses, a full-service spa and six restaurants.

Individual lawmakers pay for most of the expenses related to retreat lodging through their campaign committees, but the Democratic Caucus subsidizes some of the costs for what aides consider “official business” — to the tune of nearly $100,000 each year, according to a Democratic aide involved in retreat planning.

For instance, the caucus picks up the hefty transportation tab, as well as the thousands of dollars in expenses each year for guest speakers, food and entertainment, according to financial disbursement records.

I know that its Hip to be on the global warming bandwagon.
If you are a non-believer then you surely are an uneducated, back-woods, right winged, toothless hunter of furry critters. Even if you have doubts about it you are scorned. Revelle saw the opportunity to obtain major funding from the Navy for doing measurements and research on the ocean around the Pacific Atolls where the US military was conducting atomic bomb tests. He greatly expanded the Institute’s areas of interest and among others hired Hans Suess, a noted Chemist from the University of Chicago, who was very interested in the traces of carbon in the environment from the burning of fossil fuels. Revelle tagged on to Suess studies and co-authored a paper with him in 1957. The paper raises the possibility that the carbon dioxide might be creating a greenhouse effect and causing atmospheric warming. It seems to be a plea for funding for more studies. Funding, frankly, is where Revelle’s mind was most of the time.Next Revelle hired a Geochemist named David Keeling to devise a way to measure the atmospheric content of Carbon dioxide. In 1960 Keeling published his first paper showing the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and linking the increase to the burning of fossil fuels. These two research papers became the bedrock of the science of global warming, even though they offered no proof that carbon dioxide was in fact a greenhouse gas. In addition they failed to explain how this trace gas, only a tiny fraction of the atmosphere, could have any significant impact on temperatures. Now let me take you back to the1950s when this was going on. Our cities were entrapped in a pall of pollution from the crude internal combustion engines that powered cars and trucks back then and from the uncontrolled emissions from power plants and factories. Cars and factories and power plants were filling the air with all sorts of pollutants. There was a valid and serious concern about the health consequences of this pollution and a strong environmental movement was developing to demand action. Government accepted this challenge and new environmental standards were set. Scientists and engineers came to the rescue. New reformulated fuels were developed for cars, as were new high tech, computer controlled engines and catalytic converters. By the mid seventies cars were no longer big time polluters, emitting only some carbon dioxide and water vapor from their tail pipes. Likewise, new fuel processing and smoke stack scrubbers were added to industrial and power plants and their emissions were greatly reduced, as well.But an environmental movement had been established and its funding and very existence depended on having a continuing crisis issue. So the research papers from Scripps came at just the right moment. And, with them came the birth of an issue; man-made global warming from the carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels.Revelle and Keeling used this new alarmism to keep their funding growing. Other researchers with environmental motivations and a hunger for funding saw this developing and climbed aboard as well. The research grants began to flow and alarming hypothesis began to show up everywhere.The Keeling curve showed a steady rise in CO2 in atmosphere during the period since oil and coal were discovered and used by man. As of today, carbon dioxide has increased from 215 to 385 parts per million. But, despite the increases, it is still only a trace gas in the atmosphere. While the increase is real, the percentage of the atmosphere that is CO2 remains tiny, about .41 hundredths of one percent. Several hypothesis emerged in the 70s and 80s about how this tiny atmospheric component of CO2 might cause a significant warming. But they remained unproven. Years have passed and the scientists kept reaching out for evidence of the warming and proof of their theories. And, the money and environmental claims kept on building up. Back in the 1960s, this global warming research came to the attention of a Canadian born United Nation’s bureaucrat named Maurice Strong. He was looking for issues he could use to fulfill his dream of one-world government. Strong organized a World Earth Day event in Stockholm, Sweden in 1970. From this he developed a committee of scientists, environmentalists and political operatives from the UN to continue a series of meeting. Strong developed the concept that the UN could demand payments from the advanced nations for the climatic damage from their burning of fossil fuels to benefit the underdeveloped nations, a sort of CO2 tax that would be the funding for his one-world government. But, he needed more scientific evidence to support his primary thesis. So Strong championed the establishment of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This was not a pure climate study scientific organization, as we have been lead to believe. It was an organization of one-world government UN bureaucrats, environmental activists and environmentalist scientists who craved the UN funding so they could produce the science they needed to stop the burning of fossil fuels. Over the last 25 years they have been very effective. Hundreds of scientific papers, four major international meetings and reams of news stories about climatic Armageddon later, the UN IPCC has made its points to the satisfaction of most and even shared a Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. At the same time, that Maurice Strong was busy at the UN, things were getting a bit out of hand for the man who is now called the grandfather of global warming, Roger Revelle. He had been very politically active in the late 1950’s as he worked to have the University of California locate a San Diego campus adjacent to Scripps Institute in La Jolla. He won that major war, but lost an all important battle afterward when he was passed over in the selection of the first Chancellor of the new campus. He left Scripps finally in 1963 and moved to Harvard University to establish a Center for Population Studies. It was there that Revelle inspired one of his students to become a major global warming activist. This student would say later, "It felt like such a privilege to be able to hear about the readouts from some of those measurements in a group of no more than a dozen undergraduates. Here was this teacher presenting something not years old but fresh out of the lab, with profound implications for our future!" The student described him as "a wonderful, visionary professor" who was "one of the first people in the academic community to sound the alarm on global warming," That student was Al Gore. He thought of Dr. Revelle as his mentor and referred to him frequently, relaying his experiences as a student in his book Earth in the Balance, published in 1992.So there it is, Roger Revelle was indeed the grandfather of global warming. His work had laid the foundation for the UN IPCC, provided the anti-fossil fuel ammunition to the environmental movement and sent Al Gore on his road to his books, his movie, his Nobel Peace Prize and a hundred million dollars from the carbon credits business.What happened next is amazing. The global warming frenzy was becoming the cause celeb of the media. After all the media is mostly liberal, loves Al Gore, loves to warn us of impending disasters and tell us "the sky is falling, the sky is falling". The politicians and the environmentalist loved it, too.But the tide was turning with Roger Revelle. He was forced out at Harvard at 65 and returned to California and a semi retirement position at UCSD. There he had time to rethink Carbon Dioxide and the greenhouse effect. The man who had inspired Al Gore and given the UN the basic research it needed to launch its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was having second thoughts. In 1988 he wrote two cautionary letters to members of Congress. He wrote, "My own personal belief is that we should wait another 10 or 20 years to really be convinced that the greenhouse effect is going to be important for human beings, in both positive and negative ways." He added, "…we should be careful not to arouse too much alarm until the rate and amount of warming becomes clearer."And in 1991 Revelle teamed up with Chauncey Starr, founding director of the Electric Power Research Institute and Fred Singer, the first director of the U.S. Weather Satellite Service, to write an article for Cosmos magazine. They urged more research and begged scientists and governments not to move too fast to curb greenhouse CO2 emissions because the true impact of carbon dioxide was not at all certain and curbing the use of fossil fuels could have a huge negative impact on the economy and jobs and our standard of living. I have discussed this collaboration with Dr. Singer. He assures me that Revelle was considerably more certain than he was at the time that carbon dioxide was not a problem. Did Roger Revelle attend the Summer enclave at the Bohemian Grove in Northern California in the Summer of 1990 while working on that article? Did he deliver a lakeside speech there to the assembled movers and shakers from Washington and Wall Street in which he apologized for sending the UN IPCC and Al Gore onto this wild goose chase about global warming? Did he say that the key scientific conjecture of his lifetime had turned out wrong? The answer to those questions is, "I think so, but I do not know it for certain". I have not managed to get it confirmed as of this moment. It’s a little like Las Vegas; what is said at the Bohemian Grove stays at the Bohemian Grove. There are no transcripts or recordings and people who attend are encouraged not to talk. Yet, the topic is so important, that some people have shared with me on an informal basis.Roger Revelle died of a heart attack three months after the Cosmos story was printed. Oh, how I wish he were still alive today. He might be able to stop this scientific silliness and end the global warming scam.Al Gore has dismissed Roger Revelle’s Mea culpa as the actions of senile old man. And, the next year, while running for Vice President, he said the science behind global warming is settled and there will be no more debate, From 1992 until today, he and his cohorts have refused to debate global warming and when ask about we skeptics they simply insult us and call us names.So today we have the acceptance of carbon dioxide as the culprit of global warming. It is concluded that when we burn fossil fuels we are leaving a dastardly carbon footprint which we must pay Al Gore or the environmentalists to offset. Our governments on all levels are considering taxing the use of fossil fuels. The Federal Environmental Protection Agency is on the verge of naming CO2 as a pollutant and strictly regulating its use to protect our climate. The new President and the US congress are on board. Many state governments are moving on the same course. We are already suffering from this CO2 silliness in many ways. Our energy policy has been strictly hobbled by no drilling and no new refineries for decades. We pay for the shortage this has created every time we buy gas. On top of that the whole thing about corn based ethanol costs us millions of tax dollars in subsidies. That also has driven up food prices. And, all of this is a long way from over. And, I am totally convinced there is no scientific basis for any of it.Global Warming. It is the hoax. It is bad science. It is a high jacking of public policy. It is no joke. So - I am not what you would classify as an "Early-Adapter" when it comes to this digital stuff - but I have to give a shout-out for SKYPE!

I can sit in Ohio and see & talk to my kids in California, Florida and Chicago and my wife down in the Carolina's. It amazing how much better it is speaking and seeing. Kind of like radio and television when TV came onto the scene. (although I don't remember that, before my time)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California's controller says he will begin a 30-day delay on tax refunds and other payments starting Feb. 1 because the state is running out of money.

Controller John Chiang said Friday he must delay $3.7 billion in payments next month because lawmakers have failed to address California's growing deficit.
With a $41.6 billion shortfall over the next year-and-a-half, the state is on the brink of issuing IOUs.

Chiang says his office must continue education and debt payments but will defer money for tax refunds, student aid, social services and mental health programs.
A severe drop in revenue has left the state's main bank account depleted. The state had been relying on borrowing from special funds and Wall Street investors; those options are no longer available.

Great White North - Yoooo Hoser!

OK - this is in no way a complaint - as some of you may know .... I am very,very,very,very, very, very fortunate. I use 6 "very's" because I have 3 Lovely active and productive children, and Lovely daughter-in-law - an absolutely supportive and caring wife and a GREAT job. My wife not only allows me to have 2 Harleys (could have used 2 more very's), but she encouraged me to keep my 1st after I had purchased my 2nd (not knowing of course that I would end up working in the north while continuing to have a house in the south. So if anyone thinks I would trade her in on another - think again - ain't gonna happen - wouldn't be prudent.

So last Friday we left the North in a Blizzard - and I was able to spend the weekend in the beautiful 60 degrees. I got to ride all over town and enjoy a weekend in the South. Returning Monday this is what the Great White North looked like from the air!!!!!!!! And we are getting another 4-6 today with temps dropping to the teens or less.

I found this post unpublished in my drafts since October - I am throwing it on the blog because the dinner was very good and the restaurant should get its due - so here it is .............

It was a Gorgeous Fall Day here on Saturday so Renie & I took a Ride to Vermilion Ohio. I road on Friday - I will ride on Sunday, and next week as I get reacquainted with my Deuce in North Carolina and a few days riding down south!

So we went to the OLD PRAGUE RESTAURANT and had a great Chekoslovackian meal of Chicken Paprikash & Spaetzel, Yellow Lake Erie Perch and a Great Czech Pilsner Urquell! The place was great. We also walked around Vermilion and enjoyed some of the views that it has to offer on the shores of Lake Erie. If you ever find yourself in Vermilion, (I think you would have to be headed for Vermilion in order to find yourself there) we recommend that you stop by and break bread at the great little restaurant.

A Detroit Tigers scout flies to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play baseball and is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over to the states to pitch for the Tigers.

Two weeks later the Tigers are in a close game with the Indians. The manager gives the young Iraqi reliever the nod and in he goes. The kid is a sensation, he strikes out everyone he faces for the rest of the game and wins it for the Tigers! The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media loves the new star. When the player comes off the field he phones his mom to tell her about his first day in the Majors. "Hello mum, guess what?" he says in an Iraqi accent. "I played for three innings today, I was called from the bullpen with the bases loaded but I struck out everyone I faced , and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love me."

"Wonderful," says his mom, "Let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, fondled and beaten and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all the while you were having such a great time."

The young lad is very upset. "What can I say, Mum, but that I am sorry".

When my kids were young I traveled for a living - kinda Willy Loman style - and while traveling I would always pick up pens, notepads, candy from hotels, conferences, sales meetings, customer events etc - and bring them home to my kids. At a young enough age they thought this was great!!

Well the kids got older and the trinkets brought back from my travels did not hold the same fascination as they did when they were little. UNTIL they went off to college and I would send them pens, paper and an occasional US currency bill along with a note explaining that these were "Schoolin Supplies"

Now they are all graduated and in the work world - however, as I returned from a trip today from Tuscaloosa, via Houston, to ClevLand - there waiting at my front door was a box of much needed supplies for my apartment. My son collected these goodies from a Trade Fair in the North East and sent them via USPS with a note - Hey Dad, For all the years of hotel pens, It's payback time. Ha Ha. Love Although I will put them to good use - I still have not found the $20 bill.

All right I will say it again - This Bachelor Shit Blows!!

As most of you know I have been up here in CleavLand for a year yesterday (I think). Nothing wrong with North East Ohio (except winter gray days, snow and cold) other than that it is great. Renie went to our house in NC a few weeks ago - or was it months? I miss her like crazy! OK - bachin' it may be fun for a couple weeks - but that is all!

I don't want to get all sobby and mushy but - I am not cut out to be a bachelor especially after having a wife for the last 25 years who takes care of EVERYTHING so I can focus on work. I have posted a few blogs on meals that I have mastered ...... most of them on the grill - cause it man's work - arrrh arrrrh arrrh. Now its to cold so I bought a crock pot and cooked my first meal in it. As I came home from work and opened the door - the smell of a nice home cooked meal was wafting in the air of the apartment. It almost seemed like Renie was here cooking dinner for me. But, no - I sat and ate my meal by myself (PS Bouter thanks for the Chuck Steak in tomato sauce recipe)and it was delicious.

So call me a wuss, call me a puss - I don't care I'll smack you on your noggin next time I see yah.

OK - what do you get when you match a 50+ year old tooth against a pistachio shell?

Let me tell you ..... you get a chipped molar. ........ So its Thursday night and I am chomping away on some CHILI HOT pistachios that I picked up in Santa Barbra while visiting my son and daughter in law. I bit down .... thought it was the shell and it ended up being that as well as a piece of molar. Gross .............. that's what you get when your mouth is fast approaching antique status.

So I hit the sack and wake up in the morning and feel like this guy ......................... thinking that if I look in the mirror my tongue is dripping blood.

So I do a quick trip to the dentist to have him grind down the knife edge of my tooth until I can get a crown to cover the whole mess up. I think I may go with the shiny 50 cent look this time.

I ran across a photo I took back in 04 while on a ride with my youngest daughter in the Charlotte area. I can't remember what gas prices were back then but no one was talkin' about them. What is cool about this photo is not the 35 cents per gallon price but the fact that the gas pump from back in the DAY could not go over $1.00 per gallon, and the total sale could not be over $10.00. Oh Yeah - there were some good things about the "Good old Days.

I grew up in "De-Troy-It" in the 60's and 70's and the 4 tops were one of MY groups. While my older brother gravitated to the rebellious songs of the FM Stations, I clung to the lighter sounds of Motown until finally joining in the Underground Music Movement - Groovy Huh.

The write up below brings back great memories as I replay the songs in my mind especially "Bernadette"

Bragg’s 1986 homage was just one small measure of how the lead voice of the Four Tops impacted several generations of listeners.
Stubbs, who died Friday at age 72, was not the prototypical Motown singer of the ‘60s. Though the Four Tops scored 24 Top-40 hits, Stubbs ran counter to the suave soul stylings of the Detroit label. Whereas other Motown singers such as Smokey Robinson, the young Marvin Gaye and the Temptations’ Eddie Kendricks were lauded for their agile suppleness, their insinuating smoothness, Stubbs was all about raw emotion. Whereas Robinson, Gaye and the rest served the song, Stubbs sounded as if he was caught up in something that no mere pop arrangement could contain.
He was never better than on a trilogy of songs released within a six-month span in 1966-67. All were written and produced by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Edward Holland Jr., Motown’s elite production team. Each remains a monument of classic soul, with Stubbs’ peerless voice at the forefront:
“Reach Out I’ll Be There,” released August 1966, No. 1 pop hit: Stubbs throws a lifeline to a friend dying of neglect. Realizing the situation is desperate, he sings as if someone’s life depends on it, and it just might; the lyrics hint that a suicide is imminent (“all of your hope is gone”). Dalian - Policewomen

There is a GREAT city in Northeast China called Dalian. Originally established by Russia, then later occupied by Japan, Dalian has a long history as an international sea port supporting commerce and tourism from Japan, Korea, and other traditional Asian regions for over a century.

The town is known for their fantastic fresh seafood, which I had the pleasure to enjoy on two separate occasions, but one of the coolest things is their policewomen that stand on a pedestal in the middle of the street and direct traffic with their white go-go boots (if you are old enough to remember those). Here are a few pics of this beautiful historic city and their version of the Po-Po, Fuzz, 5-0, Cops, Pigs etc. etc.

Well - I finally made it to the New HD Stealership in Shanghai! My riding buddy got me a t-shirt from there back in 2007, but I had a free morning and took a cab to see it. ........... The gal behind the counter was very friendly and she said she would "make me a picture" in front of the shop. From what I understand, you can not even ride a Harley in the center of most major cities.

At one time, not so long ago Volkswagen had over 50% market share in autos in China - Most cabs are still the old Jetta style (must have sent old tooling to China and they are still pumping them out) now as China's rich and middle class grows we have seen Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche and other higher end goodies spring up in the major cities - so Harley was a natural.

As you travel China you realize that this is a nation of Bikers, their machines may be smaller but it is many peoples only transportation - even in the winter. I will post pictures of the scooters that I took over my 10 visits to this phenomenal country. I am glad that Harley is there, as East and West merge we all become more like brothers and strive for the same things in life. I am just hoping that Harley institutes a Fly & Ride before my visits end to this fantastic country.

I have been to a couple of other motorcycle places while being driven around China, including the ones below. Arlen Ness Shanghai, Honda Shanghai, for the Harley Davidson Rider Beijing ( a knock off HD Stealership). There is the "first" Harley Shop in Beijing that I tried to communicate to a cabbie in Beijing in 2007 and ended up here, at the chrome horse.

From the pages of WRM - while browsing the web I happened upon this picture - Can it be real? It sounds like it is real in the head of this designer anyway. Jake Make it happen in my Lifetime!

Art Center College of Design student Jake Loniak has designed a concept vehicle that, though seemingly lifted straight from a big-budget sci-fi movie, he claims could be produced today if the resources were available to him. The wearable motorcycle concept is called Deus Ex Machina and would seem to offer unparallel thrills to anyone brave enough to strap themselves in.
The three-wheeled exoskeleton is designed to be parked upright, allowing a driver to simply step in to the suit, and can adjust the position of its wheels to flatten its profile as speed increases. Powered by lithium-ion batteries and ultracapacitors, and controlled through the use of 36 pneumatic “muscles,” the concept would be able to hit 75 miles per hour when topped out.
Deus doesn’t exist as anything but a digital rendering yet, despite our fervent hopes to the contrary, but there is a short video of it in operation available through the link below.

Well I once again I had a wonderful lunch of Mandarin Fish, Chinese Green Vegetables and a G-I-Q of Tsingtao Beer. It is my last lunch her in Shanghai and it will be the same as my first lunch when I arrived last week. The fish is cut into small nibletts before it is cooked so it is very easy to eat with chopsticks. The sauce or "saurce" as we like to say is a sweet & sour tomato sauce that is just right. All this for under $20 US is truly a value meal. Looking forward to heading home as usual, but also getting together with my good friend Roger Li. I will get a picture of Roger this evening to post later.

It showed up on the automaker's media site yesterday evening all by its lonesome with no accompanying details, but what else is there to know besides the fact it's packing a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 422 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque? And for those who were wondering before, the nostril vent does appear to be part of the production package. Perhaps this picture's sudden appearance portends more information to come. This post should auto-post about the time I am in the air heading for my 10th trip to China. I will be away from the post for about a week. So ...............

Even though I spend most of my time Solo riding with my buddies, I have many, many fond memories of the scooter and family. Since I was looking over all my pictures from my computer here in Ohio, and had just seen all my kids ..... I decided to post a collage for this blog. Since most of my readers are family members here are a few shots from a while back. ENJOY!!!

The Charlotte Thunder Charity Event & Ride - My daughters helping me peddle my fledgling ROAD SpEX Motorcycle Sunglass Business. We gave away more than we sold, but had a good time all the same and it was great being with my daughters.

Giving my Nephew Alex a Ride on the Glide in Pinehurst NC. Giving my Pops a Ride on the Glide. Been a while since he was on a scooter.

My Girls in Boone at App State. My son again in Daytona. And a NC trip with Steve & one of his girls.

105th Day 4 - The Museum (Cont again)

More on the Museum visit, sorry to bore you all with my snapshots but I tried to limit what I post to only those that I really enjoyed looking at. I enjoyed the hell out of a lot of them. So bare with me while I recap our 2 & 1/2 hour walk.

The Tank Wall was awesome ........ there it was all on one wall a history of design and style of the entire 105 yrs.

The engine wall was again 105 years of HD power plants

Board Track racing was also displayed .......... crazy racing on 2x4's with little protection and no brakes!

A wall of H.O.G. owners along with their rides was also pretty spectacular. Screens randomly turned to video as members talked about their bikes. Pretty Cool.

My sad but True Tale for hump day!

When I first noticed that my penis was growing larger and staying erect longer, I was delighted, as was my wife. But after several weeks my penis had grown fifty centimetres.
I started to became quite concerned. I was having problems dressing and even walking. So my wife & I went to see a prominent urologist.

After an initial examination the doctor explained to us that, though rare, my condition (Donkey Doodle) could be fixed through corrective surgery. "How long will Jeff be on crutches?" my wife asked anxiously. "Crutches? Why would he need crutches?" responded the surprised doctor.
"Well," my wife said coldly, "you're gunna lengthen his legs, aren't you?"
